Welcome to the English for General Communication course. This course forms part of the Namibian College of Open Learning (NAMCOL) DECPPE programme and is designed to support students in developing effective communication skills for academic, professional, and everyday contexts.

The course focuses on building competence in listening, reading, speaking, and writing in English. Students will engage with a range of activities that strengthen academic literacy, critical reading, oral communication, and practical writing skills, including personal, business, and academic forms of communication. Attention will also be given to appropriate language use, communication etiquette in different contexts, and strategies for understanding and producing clear, purposeful texts.

By the end of the course, students should be able to communicate more confidently and effectively in their studies, workplaces, and communities, using English in ways that are appropriate for different situations and audiences.

This course is designed to be completed over a one-year period, during which students will progressively develop the knowledge and skills necessary for effective communication.
